Sweden will be organising a ceremony to honour His Majesty King Rama IX on October 26, 2017 in Stockholm

This ceremony is called 'Serafimerringningen', a Swedish tradition which is held when a Knight of the Order, the receiver of the Royal Order of the Seraphim dies. His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej had been offered the Royal Order of the Seraphim, which is the highest insignia of Sweden in 1950.

The ceremony will be held on 26 October at 11.55 am local time, which is on the same day as the royal burial ceremony. Swedish Royal Order Guard Troops will take His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej's coat of arms from the Stockholm Palace in a procession to the Riddarholm church, the burial ground of the Swedish dynasty. There will be a bell at the church for 1 hour from 12.00 - 13.00.

The Royal Thai Family and Swedish Royal Family have always had a close relationship with each other. His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej had an official visit in Sweden during 23-25 September 1950. Similarly, King Carl XVI Gustav, and Queen Silvia of Sweden had visited Thailand several times. Both of them also took part in the 60th Anniversary of His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej's Coronation.
