In a recent interview with ScandAsia, Ms. Amelié Jakobsson, Executive Director of the Thai-Swedish Chamber of Commerce (SweCham), shared her personal and professional journey before taking on the role of Executive Director. Being half Swedish and half Thai, Amelié grew up in Sweden while maintaining a strong connection to her Thai roots.
Although she was raised in Sweden, her connection to Thailand has remained an important part of her life. Interestingly, her journey with SweCham began many years ago when she joined the Chamber as an intern. Now, she has come full circle, returning to where it all began—this time as SweCham's new Executive Director. Her journey is a reminder that the experiences and connections we build along the way can often lead us back to unexpected opportunities.
