On Friday, 7 August 2026, SweCham was delighted to participate in the 𝗖 𝗮𝘀𝗲𝗮𝗻 𝗙𝗼𝗿𝘂𝗺 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟲, held under the theme “𝗥𝗲𝘀𝗶𝗹𝗶𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗔𝗦𝗘𝗔𝗡: 𝗖𝗼𝗻𝗻𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗮𝘀 𝗮 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗽𝗲𝘁𝗶𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗔𝗱𝘃𝗮𝗻𝘁𝗮𝗴𝗲.” The forum brought together policymakers, business leaders, academics, experts, and students to discuss how stronger regional connectivity can contribute to ASEAN’s economic, social, and physical resilience.

The first panel discussion featured distinguished speakers:

The discussion highlighted the continuously changing global landscape and how emerging events and global challenges are affecting ASEAN as a whole. Speakers emphasized the importance of growing together as a region, setting aside differences and conflicts, and strengthening regional connectivity.
Key areas discussed included enhancing intra-regional trade, making better use of ASEAN’s own resources, attracting foreign investment, and strengthening cooperation among member states. The growing role of artificial intelligence was also highlighted, with speakers emphasizing the importance of developing the skills and capabilities needed to use AI effectively and adapt to an increasingly technology-driven world.

The discussion introduced the concept of the Water Economy as a model for promoting the effective use of water and improving water productivity, while also strengthening the capacity of local communities to adapt and thrive.
From an urban development and architectural perspective, the discussion highlighted the importance of incorporating blue and green spaces into the design of cities and buildings, creating environments that allow people to remain connected with nature while supporting greater resilience.
Overall, the session emphasized the importance of climate adaptation, sustainable urban development, and regional cooperation in building stronger and more resilient communities across ASEAN.
