Jönköping University has become a European university

Jönköping University (JU) announced they has become a part of the European University Initiative through their alliance @EULiST.  The European University Initiative is an initiative that aims to strengthen strategic partnerships between higher educational institutions in the European Union.  With Jönköping University’s participation in this EU Initiative, new opportunities for international cooperation are expected to emerge.    Agneta Marell, President of JU, says that participating in this initiative will open many doors for Jönköping University. 


The European University Initiative (EUI) is a European Union programme focused on the cross-border activities of the university systems in the EU.  For a university to join the EUI, the academic institution must be an alliance member. Jönköping University is a part of the EULiST; it comprises ten members with a shared mission, the alliance aims to link society, science, and technology. 


“A major aim of the collaboration will be to develop educational and research initiatives which contribute to addressing social and global challenges,” says Nerrolyn Ramstrand, the President’s Advisor for Internationalisation.  Jönköping University is embedded with being part of the local region and the worldwide community. It is taking clear steps towards fulfilling its vision of “leading as a collaborative, internationally connected and globally oriented university.”
