SweCham extends its warmest congratulations to member company Saab following the Royal Thai Air Force's (RTAF) confirmation today of its selection of the Saab Gripen E/F as its new future multi-role fighter.

While a contract has not yet been signed, this significant decision marks a crucial step in the procurement process. Saab's comprehensive offer includes not only the Gripen E/F fighter aircraft and associated equipment but also a long-term offset package. This package is designed to bolster Thailand's national security and strategic independence, fostering new jobs and investments across various sectors of Thai society.

Micael Johansson, President and CEO of Saab, highlighted the importance of this selection, stating,

"Gripen E/F is the best solution to provide Thailand with independent airpower for the future which will contribute significantly to the nation’s safety and security."

Thailand has a well-established relationship with Saab, having operated Gripen C/D aircraft since 2011, further cementing confidence in the Gripen platform.

SweCham looks forward to the successful progression of this procurement and the strengthened ties between Sweden and Thailand.
