  • VentPro's Innovative Solutions to Combat PM2.5 Pollution

In Thailand, where PM2.5 air pollution is a significant health hazard, the use of an Energy Recovery Ventilation (ERV) system with balanced airflow and cross ventilation can be a vital solution. < Back VentPro's Innovative Solutions to Combat PM2.5 Pollution 19 Jan 2024 In Thailand, where PM2.5 air pollution is a significant health hazard, the use of an Energy Recovery Ventilation (ERV) system with balanced airflow and cross ventilation can be a vital solution. PM2.5 particles, which are small enough to penetrate deep into the lungs, pose risks for respiratory and cardiovascular diseases, especially in urban areas with high traffic emissions and industrial activities. ERV systems address this issue by facilitating a balanced exchange of indoor and outdoor air while conserving energy used in cooling. The key advantage of an ERV system with balanced airflow lies in its ability to maintain equal amounts of fresh air intake and stale air exhaust, ensuring optimal ventilation. This balance is crucial for efficiently reducing indoor levels of PM2.5, volatile organic compounds (VOCs), and carbon dioxide (CO2). The cross-ventilation feature further enhances air circulation, effectively distributing clean air throughout the space and improving indoor air quality. High-efficiency filters in these systems play a critical role in trapping harmful particles and pollutants, making the indoor environment safer and healthier. In densely populated areas of Thailand, where natural ventilation may not suffice to reduce indoor pollutant levels, installing an ERV system becomes essential. It is a proactive measure not only for health protection but also for enhancing the comfort and well-being of occupants in homes and offices. Previous Next

  • SAS: A New Chapter for Scandinavian Airlines

The Executive Director of the Thai-Swedish Chamber of Commerce, Anna Olsson-Moore, and President Peter Björk, along with representatives from the Norwegian and Danish Chambers of Commerce, had the privilege of meeting Paul Verhagen, Executive Vice President and Chief Commercial Officer of Scandinavian Airlines (SAS).   < Back SAS: A New Chapter for Scandinavian Airlines 14 Nov 2024 The Executive Director of the Thai-Swedish Chamber of Commerce, Anna Olsson-Moore, and President Peter Björk, along with representatives from the Norwegian and Danish Chambers of Commerce, had the privilege of meeting Paul Verhagen, Executive Vice President and Chief Commercial Officer of Scandinavian Airlines (SAS). Since joining the SAS Executive Leadership Team on August 14, 2023, Verhagen has overseen significant developments in SAS’s operations. During his recent visit to Bangkok, he provided key updates on SAS’s renewed routes to Thailand and shared the airline’s ambitious plans for further expansion in the region. This insightful discussion, hosted in collaboration with other Nordic Chambers at the Pacific Club, also underscored SAS’s intention to add more destinations as part of its strategy to strengthen its presence in Southeast Asia. After a 10-year hiatus, SAS made a significant return to the Thai market in 2023, capitalizing on the strong resurgence in global tourism. A major milestone in this comeback was the launch of the airline’s inaugural direct flight from Copenhagen to Bangkok, marking a fresh chapter for SAS in the region. This new route is part of the airline’s strategy to tap into the growing Scandinavian market, which had seen a decline in travel to Thailand prior to the pandemic due to economic challenges. With Thailand’s tourism industry bouncing back, SAS’s return to the Thai market comes at an ideal moment, and the airline is focused on reinforcing its connections with the Scandinavian region. The 2023 launch of the Copenhagen-Bangkok route signals SAS’s commitment to enhancing its network and catering to the rising demand for travel to Thailand. Previous Next

  • Thailand’s economy experienced a slow but steady revival, primarily driven by private consumption

To keep you updated with Thailand's economy, a summary of the World Bank's Thailand Monthly Economic Monitor, September 2023 has been prepared for you. < Back Thailand’s economy experienced a slow but steady revival, primarily driven by private consumption 28 Sept 2023 As for the general economy, it gradually continues to recover. The main driver being increased private consumption, a strong labour market and a moderately recovering tourism sector. However, the situation is different when it comes to goods exports. Goods exports declined with 5.5% (year-on-year), making it the tenth consecutive month of contraction. The major reason behind the contraction this month being a decline in both manufacturing and agricultural exports. When it comes to the outlook for Foreign Direct Investments (FDI), it has mainly been supported by the economic recovery and investment promotion efforts. There is an increased interest in certain targeted industries such as electronics, food processing, and the automotive sector in which the electronic vehicle supply chain stands out. The inflation continues to be very low, though a minor increase was seen in August. The reason behind the increase being rising energy and food prices. As seen from the first ten months, fiscal consolidation has progressed at a slow pace due to the implementation of energy subsidies. However, the central government's fiscal deficit decreased to 4.3% of GDP, compared to 6.2% in the same period last year. As for the public debt, it remained stable at 61.7% of GDP as of July. Regarding the newly formed government, they have set up policy priorities that aim to stimulate household spending. This includes a provided one-time transfer of 10 000 THB via digital wallets to all individuals aged 16 and above. This, together with additional cuts in energy prices, and by postponing debt repayments for (1) farmers; (2) small and medium enterprises; and (3) individuals for three years, all serves the purpose to reduce the cost of living in the country. However, some of these efforts would lead to increased fiscal costs. Lastly, Thailand´s current account balance recorded a deficit of 1.1% of GDP in July due to a declining goods trade surplus and increased deficits in services, primary and secondary income. • From Songkran's Splashes to Påsk's Delights: Embracing the Holiday Season!

As the vibrant splashes of Songkran, the traditional Thai New Year, fade into cherished memories, a new season of reflection and joy dawns in Sweden with the arrival of Påsk (Easter). < Back From Songkran's Splashes to Påsk's Delights: Embracing the Holiday Season! 18 Apr 2025 From Songkran's Splashes to Påsk's Delights: Embracing the Holiday Season in Sweden As the vibrant splashes of Songkran , the traditional Thai New Year, fade into cherished memories, a new season of reflection and joy dawns in Sweden with the arrival of Påsk (Easter). For our Swedish members and friends in Thailand, this transition from the lively Thai festivities to the contemplative yet festive Swedish Easter offers a unique perspective on cultural celebrations and the universal joy of holidays. Långfredagen (Good Friday), observed this year on 18 April , marks a significant day in the Christian calendar, commemorating the crucifixion of Jesus Christ. In Sweden, it is traditionally a day of quiet reflection. Many businesses may have adjusted hours, and the atmosphere is generally more subdued. It's a time for introspection and spending peaceful moments with family. However, the solemnity of Långfredagen gives way to the anticipation and joy of the Easter weekend in Sweden . Swedish Easter traditions ( Påsk traditions ), celebrated on Sunday, 20 April , are a delightful blend of religious observance and charming folk customs. Here are a few highlights of Swedish Easter celebrations : Easter Eggs (Påskägg): Just as children (and adults!) eagerly anticipate Songkran water fights and receiving blessings, the excitement around Påskägg is palpable in Sweden. These brightly decorated eggs, often filled with candy and small treats, are hidden for children to find on Easter Sunday . This playful tradition adds a touch of magic to the holiday. Easter Witches (Påskkärringar): Keep an eye out for little "witches" with painted faces and colorful scarves! On Maundy Thursday (the Thursday before Good Friday), children often dress up as påskkärringar and go door-to-door, offering handmade drawings or greetings in exchange for a small treat – a charming parallel to the spirit of sharing and goodwill we experience during Songkran. Easter Decorations: Homes are often adorned with yellow and green decorations, feathers, and of course, birch twigs decorated with colorful feathers ( påskris ). These vibrant touches bring a sense of spring and renewal, echoing the fresh beginnings celebrated during Songkran. Easter Feast (Påskbord): Similar to the gatherings and special meals enjoyed during Songkran, the Swedish Easter table ( Påskbord ) is a feast for the senses. Traditional dishes often include pickled herring ( sill ), salmon ( lax ), potatoes, and the tempting Janssons frestelse (a creamy potato and anchovy gratin). Lamb is also a popular main course during Easter in Sweden. Celebrating Easter in Bangkok For those celebrating Easter in Bangkok, you have delightful opportunities to experience the taste of an Easter Feast right here! Kimpton Maa-Lai Bangkok invites you to their Easter Brunch on Sunday, 20 April 2025 , from 12:00 to 15:00 at Stock.Room . Adding to the festive fun, children can become "Little Sherlock Holmes" detectives and unearth Easter Egg treasures during the Morning Hunt (11:30 to 12:30) and Afternoon Hunt (14:00 to 15:00) at Studio 4 on the 6th floor. Chatrium Grande Bangkok is also hosting an Easter Brunch on Sunday, 20 April 2025 , offering a special 20% discount (excluding beverages). Please note that direct advance reservation with the hotel is required and subject to availability. The Thai-Swedish Chamber of Commerce wishes all our members and friends a peaceful Långfredagen and a joyful Påsk filled with warmth and delightful Swedish traditions ! Previous Next
