The event focused on positioning Northeastern Thailand as a rising MICE destination under the theme: "A New Chapter of Isan: Rooted Identity, Ready for Global MICE." The program featured business matching, networking, and site visits across Khon Kaen’s key venues including: KICE Convention Center Pullman and Avani Khon Kaen Hotels Mitr Phol Innovation & Research Center Glowfish Khon Kaen Sawathee Community – for a cultural immersion into local heritage The main event at TCDC Khon Kaen included an opening ceremony with high-level speeches, panel discussions on Isan’s economic potential, and an MOU signing to support regional MICE growth. A big thank you to Glowfish Khon Kaen for coordinating our visit, and the Ad Lib Hotel for a warm hospitality during the trip. SweCham executive director, Dr Pojanath Bhatanacharoen, along with the team joined the Executive Directors and Chambers Management Luncheon Meeting organised by the Joint Foreign Chambers of Commerce in Thailand (JFCCT). < Back Foreign Chambers of Commerce Continue our Cooperation Through the JFCCT 30 Jun 2023 On 27 June, our executive director, Dr Pojanath Bhatanacharoen, along with the team joined the Executive Directors and Chambers Management Luncheon Meeting organised by the Joint Foreign Chambers of Commerce in Thailand (JFCCT) at Anantara Siam Hotel. The aim of the meeting is to share updates on JFCCT Committees, future events, and initiatives to which foreign chambers of commerce in Thailand and chambers’ members could contribute and support further. At the meeting, JFCCT Chairwoman, Mrs Vibeke Lyssand Leirvåg, JFCCT Vice Chairs, Dr Supareak Charlie Chomchan and Mr Ravi Sehgal, together with Chair of Sustainable Development Committee, Mr Lars Svensson, Chairman of Tourism Committee, Mr Anthony Hoglund, and Executive Secretary, Ms Wanlapa Yamapai, shared their updates. The work scope of the JFCCT Tourism Committee, Sustainable Development Committee, Digital Economy/ICT Committee, SME Committee, and Education & Skills Committee were shared. Members of chambers are invited to actively participate in the committees. Chambers also have the opportunity to commit to knowledge transferring for teachers, work with the Office of SMEs Promotion (OSMEP), take part in sustainability events to showcase the expertise of chambers’ members and support the JFCCT in various prospects. Believing that we can drive business growth for the foreign business community by working together, many SweCham members are supporting the JFCCT in this essential work through active engagement in the working groups. Moreover, the meeting provided the JFCCT and chambers with a chance to coordinate the upcoming events this year, including the Directors’ Night, Embassies and Chambers get-together, and EEC event organised by the JFCCT and Netherlands-Thai Chamber of Commerce. < Back SweCham Annual General Meeting (AGM) 2023, 31 March 2023 We would like to warmly thank all members and friends who attended our Annual General Meeting (AGM) last week at the Landmark Bangkok Hotel ! On 30 March, SweCham had the honour of organising our Annual General Meeting (AGM) followed by networking drinks and a delicious dinner. At the AGM, we presented SweCham’s activities over the past year, including a recap of projects and a financial update, followed by the election of board governors. A big congratulation to Mr. Peter Björk who was re-elected for his 4th term as President by the SweCham Board! The evening continued with the special post-meeting dinner. We were honoured to be joined by Mr. Chanin Khaochan, Deputy Secretary General of Thailand Board of Investment, who shared with us updates on the current investment climate in Thailand and the new investment policy that encourages Thailand’s economy to be competitive, innovative and inclusive. Mr. Chanin expressed appreciation of the Thai-Swedish relationship and Swedish investors, welcoming the Swedish expertise in areas such as circular economy, green energy and waste management. We would like to extend our warm thanks to Mr. Chanin Khaochan for the interesting presentation that generated many questions from the floor and a very dynamic discussion. Guests enjoyed a delicious 4 course dinner accompanied by exquisite wine, and we would like to thank our Event Partner the Landmark Bangkok Hotel and our wine sponsor Spica Thailand for enabling such a great dining experience. PM2.5 particles, which are small enough to penetrate deep into the lungs, pose risks for respiratory and cardiovascular diseases, especially in urban areas with high traffic emissions and industrial activities. ERV systems address this issue by facilitating a balanced exchange of indoor and outdoor air while conserving energy used in cooling. The key advantage of an ERV system with balanced airflow lies in its ability to maintain equal amounts of fresh air intake and stale air exhaust, ensuring optimal ventilation. This balance is crucial for efficiently reducing indoor levels of PM2.5, volatile organic compounds (VOCs), and carbon dioxide (CO2). The cross-ventilation feature further enhances air circulation, effectively distributing clean air throughout the space and improving indoor air quality. High-efficiency filters in these systems play a critical role in trapping harmful particles and pollutants, making the indoor environment safer and healthier. In densely populated areas of Thailand, where natural ventilation may not suffice to reduce indoor pollutant levels, installing an ERV system becomes essential. The Executive Director of the Thai-Swedish Chamber of Commerce, Anna Olsson-Moore, and President Peter Björk, along with representatives from the Norwegian and Danish Chambers of Commerce, had the privilege of meeting Paul Verhagen, Executive Vice President and Chief Commercial Officer of Scandinavian Airlines (SAS).   < Back SAS: A New Chapter for Scandinavian Airlines 14 Nov 2024 The Executive Director of the Thai-Swedish Chamber of Commerce, Anna Olsson-Moore, and President Peter Björk, along with representatives from the Norwegian and Danish Chambers of Commerce, had the privilege of meeting Paul Verhagen, Executive Vice President and Chief Commercial Officer of Scandinavian Airlines (SAS). Since joining the SAS Executive Leadership Team on August 14, 2023, Verhagen has overseen significant developments in SAS’s operations. During his recent visit to Bangkok, he provided key updates on SAS’s renewed routes to Thailand and shared the airline’s ambitious plans for further expansion in the region. This insightful discussion, hosted in collaboration with other Nordic Chambers at the Pacific Club, also underscored SAS’s intention to add more destinations as part of its strategy to strengthen its presence in Southeast Asia. After a 10-year hiatus, SAS made a significant return to the Thai market in 2023, capitalizing on the strong resurgence in global tourism. A major milestone in this comeback was the launch of the airline’s inaugural direct flight from Copenhagen to Bangkok, marking a fresh chapter for SAS in the region. This new route is part of the airline’s strategy to tap into the growing Scandinavian market, which had seen a decline in travel to Thailand prior to the pandemic due to economic challenges. With Thailand’s tourism industry bouncing back, SAS’s return to the Thai market comes at an ideal moment, and the airline is focused on reinforcing its connections with the Scandinavian region.
