- AstraZeneca reveals 60% of people with high risk in Thailand are still affected by COVID-19
AstraZeneca’s survey results reveal 60% of people with high risk in Thailand are still affected by COVID-19. < Back AstraZeneca reveals 60% of people with high risk in Thailand are still affected by COVID-19 19 Jul 2023 AstraZeneca released the result of a recent survey indicating that 60% of the sample group, including those with immunodeficiency and those at a higher risk of contracting COVID-19, said that their daily lives are still affected by the pandemic. AstraZeneca announced their commitment to help these groups return to their normal lives through their previously launched campaign. The existing COVID vaccines and preventing measures might not be enough to protect those at risk from contracting COVID-19. Additionally, 92% of the sample group revealed in the survey that they would like to gain more knowledge about other alternatives to prevent them from contracting the virus. This reiterates the importance of creating awareness regarding COVID-19 and preventative measures as it will increase knowledge for the people at risk and encourage them to seek doctors’ advice. AstraZeneca saw the importance in building a better understanding for those at risk, so that they can better protect themselves from COVID-19, aligning with their existing awareness campaign. Prioritising higher-risk individuals and those with immunodeficiency is essential to reduce severe illness and fatalities, so that they will be able to resume their normal life. - Pioneer the Possible Thailand
Last Thursday, 9 November, Team Sweden hosted the Pioneer the Possible Thailand at Sasin School of Management. < Back Pioneer the Possible Thailand 13 Nov 2023 Last Thursday, 9 November, Team Sweden hosted the Pioneer the Possible Thailand at Sasin School of Management. The Pioneer the Possible Thailand is a platform where the focus areas and agenda are set based on findings from feasibility study and input from both Thailand and Sweden. The event created the opportunity for the public and private sectors to meet and discuss the future of renewable energy. The event begun with the Ambassador H.E. Mrs. Anna Hammargren, Deputy Director Associate Professor Piyachart Phiromswad, and the Trade Commissioner Mr. Kacper Pierzynowski giving the welcoming remarks. After this an insight of Thailand’s Policy on Energy Efficiency was given by Dr. Apiradee Thammanomai (Director of Strategy and Planning Division at Ministry of Energy , Department of Alternative Energy Development and Efficiency) and an inspiring keynote about green hydrogen energy opportunities in Thailand was given by Assistant Governor Dr. Narin Phoawanich ( Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand ). The discussions then moved into the future of sustainable energy with three compelling case studies. Mr. Gianandrea Bruzzone and Mr. Manoj Pagar from ABB illuminated green hydrogen production offerings, Dr. Pernilla Olausson ( Siemens Energy ) envisioned the Net Zero City, while Mr. Lars Svensson ( Midsummer ) lead the charge in transitioning to renewable energy sources. They all agreed that society needs to be more energy-efficient, while also transitioning to other energy sources to become carbon-neutral in the future. This can be best achieved through a joint effort by energy suppliers and consumers. A huge thanks to Business Sweden for organising this insightful and inspiring event! Previous Next
- APAC SwedCham Webinar: CEO talk: Helena Hedblom, CEO and President of Epiroc, 28 February 2024
< Back APAC SwedCham Webinar: CEO talk: Helena Hedblom, CEO and President of Epiroc, 28 February 2024 On 28 February, SACC and SwedCham Singapore with support from APAC SwedChams and Norchams hosted a webinar with Ms. Helena Hedblom , President and CEO of Epiroc Group , offering detailed insights into Epiroc's journey transitioning a heavy industrial company into a fast-paced technology firm. Ms. Hedblom highlighted their emphasis on sustaining profitable growth through outperforming in their industry! Epiroc is making systemic changes to its industry. The company is creating profitable growth through a focus on attractive market niches, with the goal of outperforming. Epiroc must be either number one or two in the industrial sector, or it needs to exit the sector. To outperform competitors, Epiroc follows three key parts: a strong emphasis on innovation; a dedication to aftermarket, and a commitment on operational excellence. This direction towards outperformance must be supported by a strong culture anchoring the strategy within the company. Culture is key; the people must be the right fit for the company, down to earth, hands-on, ready to go the extra mile, and eager to win. Ms. Hedblom discussed how Epiroc, as a technology company, prioritises automation, digitalisation, and electrification. These priorities exist due to how Automation makes mining safer. Epiroc's automation consists of Autonomous load/haul, autonomous drill rigs, teleremote, and Epiroc Rig controlled enabled fleet, comprising over 2,400 driverless machines! Digitalisation aims to create situational awareness and fleet management, ore body knowledge, and mine process optimisation. Electrification reduces mining dangers, where electric mining equipment protects people from hazardous fumes, cuts emissions, and increases productivity. To make Epiroc the number one choice, there is a strong emphasis on aftermarket care, ensuring the availability of the right spare parts and components, service agreements and audits, midlife service, training, and more. Epiroc also provides tools and attachments, such as rock drilling tools and hydraulic attachments, to smooth mining operations. Epiroc has ambitious goals for 2030 including no work-related injuries, a balanced workforce, and a doubling of the number of women in operational roles. It also focuses on the environment, aiming to halve CO2 emissions in operations and transport, among other sustainability goals. We would like to extend our thanks to the speakers Ms. Helena Hedblom, the moderator Ms. Petra Andrén. Also big thanks to all the participants who joined us at this remarkable webinar. Finally, congratulations to SACC and SwedCham Singapore for arranging an excellent session in the APAC CEO series! For more information on Epiroc, please visit https://www.epiroc.com/ Previous Next

- SAS reduces onboard single-use plastics by 37 tons
As part of its ongoing commitment to more sustainable air travel, SAS will eliminate 37 tons of single-use plastics from its onboard operations each year by introducing innovative, plastic-free food packaging. By adopting these sustainable alternatives whenever single-use food packaging is required, SAS has taken a practical step toward reducing waste and supporting industry-wide efforts to lower environmental impact. < Back SAS reduces onboard single-use plastics by 37 tons 3 Dec 2024 As part of its ongoing commitment to more sustainable air travel, SAS will eliminate 37 tons of single-use plastics from its onboard operations each year by introducing innovative, plastic-free food packaging. This initiative, implemented on December 1, now applies to flights departing from Copenhagen, Oslo, Arlanda, and Gothenburg. By adopting these sustainable alternatives whenever single-use food packaging is required, SAS has taken a practical step toward reducing waste and supporting industry-wide efforts to lower environmental impact. Through collaboration with its suppliers, SAS has introduced an innovative, fully sealed cardboard barrier that meets food-grade standards without the need for traditional plastic coatings. This development is part of a broader shift toward reusable and biodegradable materials, supporting SAS’ ambition to achieve 100% sustainable materials by 2030. “As an airline, our primary goal is decarbonization, which involves sustainable choices in fleet, fuel, and operations,” commented SAS Vice President of Product and Loyalty, Aron Backström. Replacing single-use plastics on board is a great example of how we are working to address our impact through what we can control today. Eliminating single-use plastics is a tangible way we can reduce our environmental impact immediately, showing how small steps add up in the journey toward more sustainable aviation. We’re also offering this sustainable packaging solution to other food producers, which expands its impact industry-wide.” In addition to plastic reduction, SAS’ cabin sustainability efforts include minimizing onboard waste and optimizing cabin materials to achieve weight reduction, which directly decreases fuel consumption and associated emissions. By exploring reusable materials and reducing packaging, SAS also contributes to the aviation sector’s broader fuel efficiency goals. “Achieving these sustainability milestones requires everyone’s support, and we’re committed to making these changes as seamless and beneficial as possible for all passengers”, added Aron Backström. “While change can feel challenging at first, together we can embrace these alternatives, like biodegradable packaging and reduced waste, for a more sustainable future.” SAS’ ongoing initiatives form part of a long-term environmental strategy aimed at reducing emissions and promoting cleaner energy sources. For example, these efforts include: Fleet renewal: Newer, fuel-efficient aircraft like the Airbus A350 and Airbus A320neo reduce fuel use and emissions. Biofuel transition : Expanding the use of biofuels to lower dependency on fossil fuels. Optimized flight operations : Efficiency practices like streamlined takeoffs, optimized flight paths, and fuel-saving strategies are part of each flight’s journey to minimize environmental impact. Future innovation : Together with partners SAS is actively involved in developing hydrogen-powered and electric aircraft with the aim of achieving zero-emission aviation. Previous Next
