The forum served as a platform for knowledge exchange under the theme of ‘Sustainable Innovation,’ showcasing pioneering advancements aimed at promoting a more sustainable future, particularly in resource sufficiency and balanced management. Key topics included: Accelerating a Sustainable Energy Future with Digitalisation Presented by Dr. Worawut Waruttamapornsu, Managing Director, Hitachi Energy Thailand Saab’s Digital Tower Concept: A Paradigm Shift for Air Traffic Control Presented by Khun Fredrik Lindblom, Managing Director, Saab Thailand Sustainability in Edible Oil Production Presented by Khun Prasit Sriadsadawutthakul, Vice President (Food and Water), SEA of Alfa Laval Clean Technology Options for Oil Circularity Presented by Khun Simon Protheroe, SKF Thailand The forum also featured a panel discussion with representatives from several Sweden-affiliated companies, including: Khun Lars Svensson, Head of Strategic Partnerships and Business Development, ASEAN+6, Midsummer AB Khun Siamnat Panassorn, Vice President for Industry Electric Vehicle Association of Thailand Khun Chris Wailes, Managing Director, Volvo Car (Thailand) Limited Khun Andrew Thuan, Vice President, Cloud Software and Services, Ericsson Khun Kongkiat Teekamongkol, Managing Director, Camfil Thailand Khun Polawat Phrirojchaikul, Managing Director, Reflex Packaging (Thailand) Following the presentations, attendees enjoyed a lively networking session, where participants had the opportunity to engage with peers and industry experts. To begin the session, Dr. Kobkullaya Chuengprasertsri, Head Director of the Premiere Life Center, offered warm opening remarks highlighting the importance of proactive health awareness and the growing shift toward preventive medical practices. The keynote session was led by Dr. Poonyanuch Chongjaroenjai , Specialist at the Premiere Life Center, who presented insights into functional lab testing and how personalised diagnostic approaches can help individuals better understand their health baselines and risk indicators. Participants learned how preventive medicine and early detection strategies play a vital role in supporting longevity, vitality, and overall well-being. This seminar reflects the ongoing collaboration between SweCham and Phyathai 2 Hospital, which aims to support the community with accessible health knowledge, practical wellness tools, and platforms for meaningful dialogue between healthcare experts and the public. Toward the end of the event, attendees enjoyed a lucky draw, where several participants received the opportunity to experience selected wellness and diagnostic services from Phyathai 2 Hospital, adding a warm and engaging conclusion to the afternoon. As the Swedish governmental agency responsible for foreign trade, the Internal Market, and trade policy, the National Board of Trade Sweden (Kommerskollegium) plays a vital role in promoting open and free trade with transparent rules. < Back The Forestias Visit, 25 April 2023 On 25 April, the Forestias MQDC welcomed SweCham and its members for a sustainability tour of their properties and visitor centre. The visit to this unique property development was an enjoyable and insightful experience, as we were given a comprehensive tour of their enterprise and learned more about their innovative concept. This visit also provided us with a glimpse of what the future holds for Forestias. The Forestias is being constructed in Bangna just outside of Bangkok city centre to house 3 towers that are all located in a 12-acre forest. The concept is to offer superb community spaces and city amenities that will allow residents to ‘Live urban’ while still enjoying the tranquillity of nature. With over 50% of the landscape covered in green space, the Forestias is a complete lifestyle destination with amenities and venues for everyone, including retail and office spaces, health facilities, community centres and educational institutions. < Back APAC SwedCham Webinar: Can food systems enable a sustainable and resilient food value chain for tomorrow?, 14 November 2023 The Swedish Australian Chamber of Commerce (SACC) recently hosted a thought-provoking APAC SwedCham webinar, titled ‘Can Food Systems Enable Sustainable and Resilient Food Value Chain for Tomorrow?’ on 14 November 2023. The webinar aimed to address the pressing issue of food loss and waste (FLW), which contributes significantly to global greenhouse gas emissions, impacting climate stability and triggering extreme weather events. Distinguished industry specialists from Alfa Laval, Tetra Pak Group, and ABB delved into approaches to address sustainable food and beverage systems problems and provide some innovative solutions. Patrick Horner, Global Technology Lead for Waste Evaporation and Zero Liquid Discharge at Alfa Laval, Denmark, explored the role of water stewardship and circularity in promoting sustainability within the food industry, giving a case study such as how they transform the brewery wastewater management and reduce the water footprint in food production. Katie Carson, Director Corporate Affairs Food & Climate Policy, Tetra Pak Group, Belgium, shared strategies to reduce food loss and waste. She emphasised responsible corporate practices, from measuring food loss and waste across the food supply chain to fostering education and awareness-raising initiatives on food loss and waste prevention. John Rieusset, Sector Lead – Food and Beverage, ABB Australia Pty Ltd, focused on the critical aspects of reducing energy and food waste in food and beverage manufacturing plants with ABB’s technologies. ABB also has expertise that could help food and beverage producers lower their energy consumption without sacrificing productivity, contributing to more efficient and sustainable operations.
