Effective Monday, 1 May 2025: Important Update for Travelers to Thailand < Back Important Update for Travelers to Thailand 1 Apr 2025 Important Update for Travelers to Thailand Effective Monday, 1 May 2025. All non-Thai nationals entering Thailand — by air, land, or sea — must complete the Thailand Digital Arrival Card (TDAC) online before arrival. This new digital system replaces paper forms and helps make immigration faster, easier, and more secure. Travelers planning to visit Thailand on or after 1 May 2025, will be kindly requested to complete the TDAC online. The application will be accessible three days prior to arrival, beginning 28 April 2025, and is required for all foreign nationals, regardless of visa status, at no charge. - SweCham team attended the launch of the World Bank Thailand Economic Monitor
Perspectives of Stakeholders: Thailand’s Strategies for Coping with Current and Future Floods and Droughts < Back SweCham team attended the launch of the World Bank Thailand Economic Monitor 5 Jul 2023 Perspectives of Stakeholders: Thailand’s Strategies for Coping with Current and Future Floods and Droughts Last Wednesday, 28 June 2023, the SweCham team attended the launch of the World Bank Thailand Economic Monitor ‘Building a Sustainable Future: Coping with Floods and Droughts’ at the Faculty of Engineering, Chulalongkorn University. Professor Dr. Supot Teachavorasinskun, the Dean of the Faculty of Engineering at Chulalongkorn University, and Dr. Fabrizio Zarcone, the World Bank Country Manager for Thailand, jointly delivered an opening statement during the inaugural session of the seminar. This was followed by keynote speeches, presentations and panel discussions by several experts in the area. Thailand experiences recurring floods and droughts each year, which are becoming increasingly severe, particularly in Bangkok, due to overpopulation and geographical factors. This seminar focused on the government’s master plan for water management. Representatives from the World Bank highlighted the escalating water stress in Thailand over the past year. The difficulties in dealing with floods and droughts, particularly in Bangkok, remain unchanged since the affected areas are privately owned. Unfortunately, the solutions available only offer temporary relief. However, private companies in the eastern part of Thailand, such as Amata Water and Indorama Ventures, have actively embraced sustainability and made a commitment to take responsibility for their actions. Ultimately, every speaker emphasised the importance of collaboration from all sectors in Thailand. Without cross-sectoral partnerships, the country will not progress, and the issues will persist. It was an honour for our team to be part of this informative and provocative seminar. We are thrilled to share this important message with our members and aspire to create a meaningful impact within our community. To read full report ‘Thailand Economic Monitor. - Reminiscing The Thai Swedish Networking Forum 2002 - Past Events and Future Steps to Bridge the Digital Divide
Swedish Thai IT Networking Forum Follow-up seminars and events scheduled by the Embassy < Back Reminiscing The Thai Swedish Networking Forum 2002 - Past Events and Future Steps to Bridge the Digital Divide 10 Oct 2024 [Article from STEP Magazine Vol. 11/No. 2, April 2002] Mobile phones, and increasingly personal digital assistants (PDA's), are common tools in today's wireless society. But can they, and the supporting technologies and know-how that makes it all work in a seamless network, be part in the ongoing effort to bridge the digital divide here and elsewhere? Yes, replied Swedish and Thai experts from industry, government and education. that gathered under the theme "Bridging the digital divide in society", at Queen Sirikit National Convention Center on March 5 for a full day of speeches and discussions. All the “right” people from wireless and IT Thailand showed up at the well-visited event organized by the Embassy of Sweden, Nectec, NSTDA and the Swedish Trade Council in co-operation with the Thai-Swedish Chamber of Commerce Keynote-speakers Prof. Dr. Pairash Thajchayapong. President NSTDA and Mr. Jan Lindgren. Vice President - Mobile Internet Solution, Ericsson Internet Application AB. set the tone by outlining the status of fixed and wireless internet implementation in Thailand and how the wireless industry worldwide is recovering after the many severe dot.com company crashes between 1999 and last year. After them followed a range of presentations showing real cases in govern-ment, city administration, entertainment, education and how it all is financed. Moderators Ms. Anita Jonsson, Director IT & Telecom, Swedish Trade Council and Rear Admiral Prasart Sribhadung, Associate Dean, Graduate School of Inicenct und E-Commerce, ABAC, kept the discussion active and focused during the day which ended with a panel discussion and a lucky draw of two GPRS enabled hand phones sponsored by Ericsson. After the Ambassador's, HE Mr. Jan Nordlander, welcome address, Ms. Gun Eriksson, State Secretary, Ministry of In-dustry. Employment and Communica-tions. Sweden made some opening remarks together with Mr. Chatree Chueyprasit. Deputy Permanent Secretary, Ministry of science, Technology and Environment. "The IT Networking Forum will be followed up by the organising partners in different ways. One idea is to arrange more in-depth seminars covering perhaps one or two of the e-topics now covered more in general during the Networking Forum." says Mr. Bengt G Carlsson, Economic & Commercial Counsellor, Swedish Embassy. There is scope for cooperation on IT issues between the City Administrations of Bangkok and Stockholm respectively. Some sort of twinning arrangement is one of the options that will be looked into. "One event/visit already being scheduled in the IT-field, partly as a result of the Forum, is the visit of an IT-delegation organised by the Swedish-Thai Chamber of Commerce (STCC), located in the province of Jämtland. This delegation will be in Thailand 28 April - 5 May and conduct meetings and seminars both in Bangkok and Khon Kaen," concludes Mr. Carisson. Previous Next
- SAS: A New Chapter for Scandinavian Airlines
The Executive Director of the Thai-Swedish Chamber of Commerce, Anna Olsson-Moore, and President Peter Björk, along with representatives from the Norwegian and Danish Chambers of Commerce, had the privilege of meeting Paul Verhagen, Executive Vice President and Chief Commercial Officer of Scandinavian Airlines (SAS). < Back SAS: A New Chapter for Scandinavian Airlines 14 Nov 2024 The Executive Director of the Thai-Swedish Chamber of Commerce, Anna Olsson-Moore, and President Peter Björk, along with representatives from the Norwegian and Danish Chambers of Commerce, had the privilege of meeting Paul Verhagen, Executive Vice President and Chief Commercial Officer of Scandinavian Airlines (SAS). Since joining the SAS Executive Leadership Team on August 14, 2023, Verhagen has overseen significant developments in SAS’s operations. During his recent visit to Bangkok, he provided key updates on SAS’s renewed routes to Thailand and shared the airline’s ambitious plans for further expansion in the region. This insightful discussion, hosted in collaboration with other Nordic Chambers at the Pacific Club, also underscored SAS’s intention to add more destinations as part of its strategy to strengthen its presence in Southeast Asia. After a 10-year hiatus, SAS made a significant return to the Thai market in 2023, capitalizing on the strong resurgence in global tourism. A major milestone in this comeback was the launch of the airline’s inaugural direct flight from Copenhagen to Bangkok, marking a fresh chapter for SAS in the region. This new route is part of the airline’s strategy to tap into the growing Scandinavian market, which had seen a decline in travel to Thailand prior to the pandemic due to economic challenges. With Thailand’s tourism industry bouncing back, SAS’s return to the Thai market comes at an ideal moment, and the airline is focused on reinforcing its connections with the Scandinavian region. The 2023 launch of the Copenhagen-Bangkok route signals SAS’s commitment to enhancing its network and catering to the rising demand for travel to Thailand. Previous Next
