Last Friday (Friyay), our SweCham team had a fantastic fika before the weekend! < Back SweCham Team Fika 22 Feb 2023 It was the perfect way to wind down after a busy week and connect with our colleagues. We gathered around the coffee table and indulged in a delicious Swedish treat, the classic ‘Prinsesstårta’. This cake is a masterpiece of sponge cake layers, vanilla custard, raspberry jam, and whipped cream, all covered in a layer of bright green marzipan. It was not only a feast for the taste buds but also for the eyes. Lastly, it was a fun and sweet way to connect with our team and kick off the weekend!!! Swedes love their Fika and it is an integral part of the Swedish culture, especially in the workplace as it gives everyone a break from a busy workday and a chance to chat about non-work-related topics. Swedes have Fika with friends and family as well, in Swedish culture there is always time for a Fika!! Previous Next

While a contract has not yet been signed, this significant decision marks a crucial step in the procurement process. Saab's comprehensive offer includes not only the Gripen E/F fighter aircraft and associated equipment but also a long-term offset package. This package is designed to bolster Thailand's national security and strategic independence, fostering new jobs and investments across various sectors of Thai society. Micael Johansson, President and CEO of Saab, highlighted the importance of this selection, stating, "Gripen E/F is the best solution to provide Thailand with independent airpower for the future which will contribute significantly to the nation’s safety and security." Thailand has a well-established relationship with Saab, having operated Gripen C/D aircraft since 2011, further cementing confidence in the Gripen platform. Dr Carolyn is originally from the UK and has also resided in the USA, Ghana, and Qatar. She has also supported the University of Western Ontario in developing and establishing a teacher development program aligned with and accredited by the International Baccalaureate Organization (IBO). In her new role at KIS, Dr Carolyn shared, “It is my mission as an educational leader to build, maintain and develop the systems and curriculum that facilitate, enable, and inspire students and teachers to achieve their academic and personal potential. In my new role as Head of School at KIS International School Bangkok, I am eager to collaborate with a diverse and talented team of educators to create a nurturing and engaging learning environment. Together, we will foster a culture of excellence and empower students to become lifelong learners and global citizens. With a passion for educational innovation and a commitment to fostering inclusive practices, I am dedicated to ensuring every student's success and well-being.” Dr Carolyn is joined in Bangkok by her husband, Gary Craggs, who is also an experienced educator, specializing in the IB Diploma Programme and school inspection. Student learning is at the centre of everything they do. < Back Sweden Pavilion at the OCSC International Education Expo 2025, Sat-Sun 15-16 November 2025 From 15 - 16 November 2025, the Thai-Swedish Chamber of Commerce (SweCham) , in collaboration with the Embassy of Sweden in Bangkok , proudly presented the Sweden Pavilion in the OCSC International Education Expo 2025 , welcoming a large number of students, parents, educators, and young professionals eager to learn about studying in one of the world’s most innovative and forward-thinking countries. Exploring Study Opportunities in Sweden Over the two-day expo, visitors had the opportunity to engage directly with representatives from KTH Royal Institute of Technology , Uppsala University , and the Swedish Institute (SI) . Attendees learned about a wide range of academic programmes, scholarship options, student life, research pathways, and career prospects across Sweden’s renowned education and innovation ecosystem. The pavilion served as a valuable information hub where prospective students could explore Bachelor’s, Master’s, and PhD opportunities while gaining practical insights into application timelines, funding options, and preparations for studying abroad. This year’s participation was made possible through strong collaboration with our partners - the Sweden Alumni Network in Thailand (SANT) , shared their authentic experiences of studying and living in Sweden, helping visitors understand the academic culture, everyday life, and the personal and professional growth that studying in Sweden offers. The event also featured engaging discussions and one-on-one consultations, giving participants the chance to connect directly with experts, ask questions, and receive personalised guidance. The interactive atmosphere highlighted Sweden’s welcoming and student-centered approach to education.
