  • APAC SwedCham Webinar: CEO talk: Helena Hedblom, CEO and President of Epiroc, 28 February 2024

< Back APAC SwedCham Webinar: CEO talk: Helena Hedblom, CEO and President of Epiroc, 28 February 2024 On 28 February, SACC and SwedCham Singapore with support from APAC SwedChams and Norchams hosted a webinar with Ms. Helena Hedblom , President and CEO of Epiroc Group , offering detailed insights into Epiroc's journey transitioning a heavy industrial company into a fast-paced technology firm. Ms. Hedblom highlighted their emphasis on sustaining profitable growth through outperforming in their industry! Epiroc is making systemic changes to its industry. The company is creating profitable growth through a focus on attractive market niches, with the goal of outperforming. Epiroc must be either number one or two in the industrial sector, or it needs to exit the sector. To outperform competitors, Epiroc follows three key parts: a strong emphasis on innovation; a dedication to aftermarket, and a commitment on operational excellence. This direction towards outperformance must be supported by a strong culture anchoring the strategy within the company. Culture is key; the people must be the right fit for the company, down to earth, hands-on, ready to go the extra mile, and eager to win. Ms. Hedblom discussed how Epiroc, as a technology company, prioritises automation, digitalisation, and electrification. These priorities exist due to how Automation makes mining safer. Epiroc's automation consists of Autonomous load/haul, autonomous drill rigs, teleremote, and Epiroc Rig controlled enabled fleet, comprising over 2,400 driverless machines! Digitalisation aims to create situational awareness and fleet management, ore body knowledge, and mine process optimisation. Electrification reduces mining dangers, where electric mining equipment protects people from hazardous fumes, cuts emissions, and increases productivity. To make Epiroc the number one choice, there is a strong emphasis on aftermarket care, ensuring the availability of the right spare parts and components, service agreements and audits, midlife service, training, and more. Epiroc also provides tools and attachments, such as rock drilling tools and hydraulic attachments, to smooth mining operations. Epiroc has ambitious goals for 2030 including no work-related injuries, a balanced workforce, and a doubling of the number of women in operational roles. It also focuses on the environment, aiming to halve CO2 emissions in operations and transport, among other sustainability goals. We would like to extend our thanks to the speakers Ms. Helena Hedblom, the moderator Ms. Petra Andrén. Also big thanks to all the participants who joined us at this remarkable webinar. Finally, congratulations to SACC and SwedCham Singapore for arranging an excellent session in the APAC CEO series! For more information on Epiroc, please visit https://www.epiroc.com/ Previous Next

  • BNH Birthday Campaign 2024

[Member Promo] Have your lung, heart, and brain checked on your birthday and get a free 01 Flu vaccine < Back BNH Birthday Campaign 2024 20 May 2024 Happy Birthday to You! Have a Healthy Year Ahead! Have your lung, heart, and brain checked on your birthday and get a free 01 Flu vaccine What is 2C1U? An early detection for stroke, heart disease, and lung cancer by performing: ✅ Low-dose CT scan for lung cancer screening ✅ Cardiac CT for calcium scoring ✅ Carotid doppler ultrasound Why 2C1U? Because ‘heart disease’ is the no. 1 killer worldwide!!! The brain, heart, and lungs are the three main organs that work together and perform heavy tasks throughout the body. If a disease occurs in any of these systems, there is a high chance that it will affect the other interconnected systems. It is better to prevent harmful stroke and heart and lung diseases by taking care of one's health, being aware of any symptoms or abnormalities that may occur in the body and assessing the risk factors associated with them. Generally, high blood fat levels may not show any symptoms, but they can be detected through blood tests that measure cholesterol and triglyceride levels. • APAC SweCham Webinar: ‘CEO Talk: Jesper Brodin, CEO Of INGKA Group IKEA’, 14 March 2023

< Back APAC SweCham Webinar: ‘CEO Talk: Jesper Brodin, CEO Of INGKA Group IKEA’, 14 March 2023 This latest APAC webinar hosted by the Swedish Australian Chamber of Commerce was a conversation with the CEO of INGKA Group IKEA, Jesper Brodin. This discussion was moderated and lead by Camilla Ballock, Chief Executive officer of Emerging Payments Association Asia. On the topic of the challenges that IKEA, and the world has faced in the last couple of years, Jesper credits relying on a good compass within the company and trusting the people around him. He stated that IKEA faced major issues because of the digital disruption. Compared to other companies, IKEA was late to move their business online when the customer demand went up. There was a reluctance to move online but they had to meet the customer’s needs. This in turn lead to IKEA being more inclined to work proactively to lead change to keep up with the times. With the culture of Småland, thrifting and smart use of all resources, IKEA can improve the way we do things and be a leader in the community. Furthermore, Jesper highlighted the importance of finding sustainable solutions for the future. Everyone must come together to agree on solutions that will be beneficial for everyone. We need more direct dialogue between companies and governments so that there are synchronized decisions and circularity to speed up the process. Both parties, the private sector and government need to agree and commit for there to be change. Moreover, Jesper emphasised that there is a misconception that sustainability is expensive, but it does not have to be. The future is in sustainability and renewable energy. We need to show companies that there are business opportunities in sustainability as it is an investment for the future that will generate profits. Additionally, Jesper stated that it is a myth that Asia does not like to take action and that he believes Asia has the opportunity to lead the progress and find new solutions. Stating that the climate crisis we face is a Global problem and we must all take seriously because you do not want to be the last one standing on the platform when everyone is on the train. We would like to thank the speakers and all the members who participated in this insightful webinar! We hope that you feel as inspired as we did! The idea first came about while they were setting up their own personal training studio. They didn’t want the usual bulky, intimidating machines. Instead, they imagined gym pieces that felt more like sculptural furniture—something you’d be proud to have in your home. What began as a small idea quickly grew. Today, FYSIK is known around the world for its handcrafted equipment that blends clean Scandinavian design with the warmth and skill of Thai craftsmanship. You’ll find FYSIK pieces in luxury homes, five-star hotels, boutique gyms—and even on Hollywood film sets. A very warm welcome to the representative of Fysik, Khun Henrik Olofsson (Co-Founder) and Khun Amm Tarasansombut (Co-Founder). Their unique combination of Scandinavian design sensibility and Thai craftsmanship perfectly reflects the Thai-Swedish identity that our chamber embodies. We are incredibly excited to have them in our community and eagerly anticipate the exciting collaborations that will undoubtedly emerge between Fysik and the broader SweCham network, fostering innovation and strengthening the ties within.
