- Preventing Colon Cancer with Early Detection: AI-Assisted Colonoscopy
Colorectal cancer is the second leading cause of cancer-related deaths worldwide, and its incidence continues to rise, particularly among younger adults. < Back Preventing Colon Cancer with Early Detection: AI-Assisted Colonoscopy 9 Apr 2025 Colorectal cancer is the second leading cause of cancer-related deaths worldwide, and its incidence continues to rise, particularly among younger adults. However, early detection significantly improves survival rates and reduces the risk of developing advanced-stage cancer. Why Early Detection Matters Research shows that 90% of colon cancers originate from harmless polyps, which can be detected and removed before they become cancerous. Since colon cancer often presents no symptoms in its early stages, regular screenings are essential. Colonoscopy remains the most effective screening method, as it not only detects abnormalities but also allows for the immediate removal of polyps in the same procedure—offering both preventive and treatment benefits for better patient outcomes. Although colorectal cancer is traditionally associated with older adults, younger individuals often underestimate their risk due to the misconception that it is solely an age-related disease. As a result, CRC screening is now recommended starting at age 45. Individuals can begin with a fecal occult blood test as a non-invasive initial screening method. Advancements in Screening Technology At Samitivej, we utilize EndoBRAIN-EYE , an AI-assisted colonoscopy system, combined with Narrow Band Imaging (NBI) to enhance screening accuracy. Developed in collaboration with Sano Hospital in Japan, this technology enables real-time analysis of colonoscopy images, helping doctors detect even the smallest abnormalities for a more precise diagnosis. Why Choose Early Screening with AI-Assisted Colonoscopy? 1.5x Higher Detection Accuracy – Ensures early-stage issues are identified and effectively managed. Reduces Colon Cancer Risk by Over 60% – Polyps can be removed before they develop into cancer. 20x Lower Treatment Costs – Prevents the need for expensive, advanced-stage treatments. By prioritizing early screenings and recognizing risks early, we can reduce the impact of colon cancer and improve health outcomes. Don’t wait for symptoms—early detection is the key to prevention and saving lives. - Volvo Car Thailand ‘Closer to realising full-electric ambitions’
Marking its 50th anniversary in Thailand, Volvo announced its ambition to go fully electric in 2025. < Back Volvo Car Thailand ‘Closer to realising full-electric ambitions’ 26 Apr 2023 Volvo Car (Thailand) continued to strengthen its position as the leader in the premium electric segment by recording full-year sales growth of 71% in 2022, as consumers showed an increasing appetite to drive electric-powered vehicles. The rapid growth of electric vehicle sales takes the company a step closer to realising its goal of being a fully electric car company in Thailand in 2025. Despite the production restraints caused by component shortages, the demand for Volvo Cars in Thailand remained robust, with sales of fully electric models, including the C40 Recharge Pure Electric and the XC40 Recharge Pure Electric, growing by 190 percent during the year of 2022, accounting for over one-third of total vehicle sales. Volvo Cars’ Recharge line-up also reported a sales increase of 24 percent, amounting to 64.8 percent of the company’s total sales volume. Among the top-selling models were the XC60 Recharge Ultimate T8 Plug-in Hybrid (22.7% of sales), the XC40 Recharge Pure Electric (22.2%), the XC40 Recharge Ultimate T5 Plug-in Hybrid (14.7%), the C40 Recharge Pure Electric (13%) and the V60 Recharge Ultimate T8 Plug-in Hybrid (9.1%). To commemorate its 50th year of operation in Thailand this year, the company also announced an ambitious plan to sell only fully electric cars in Thailand in 2025, five years ahead of the company’s global target. “This year marks a special occasion as Volvo Car introduced our first model to Thailand 50 years ago with a promise of safe driving. As we embark on our next 50 years, we extend our promise of safe driving to include protecting the environment and the world we live in. We are delighted that drivers in Thailand are so enthusiastic about electric-powered vehicles, and we are confident that our bold ambition to sell only full electric cars in 2025 will be successful,” said Chris Wailes, Managing Director of Volvo Car (Thailand) Limited . Reinforcing Volvo’s commitment to using clean energy for a sustainable future, four dealerships were chosen to house Solar Carport charging station installations, helping to lower electricity bills and reduce carbon emissions. Volvo Car Thailand also built closer connections with consumers as part of the “Live Life Better with Volvo” campaign, which encourages people to become more conscious of the environment and communicate the importance of living life sustainability. Adventurous outdoor activities hosted by Volvo included cycling and trail running, giving Thais an opportunity to explore their thrill-seeking side and get in touch with nature. Southeast Asia’s first brand experience center, Volvo Studio Bangkok, also hosted a number of fun and interesting events and activities throughout the year. “In line with our promise to launch at least one new electric car every year, in 2023, we will continue to strengthen our position as a leader in the premium electric segment by launching two new Pure Electric models that will further raise our standards in safety and a more sustainable lifestyle. We will continue to be pioneers in the protection of people and the planet and achieve our goal of being a fully electric car company in 2025 in Thailand, five years ahead of our global target,” “Looking ahead, Volvo will continue to shape the future of mobility with safety and sustainability in mind. We have made it our mission to make life easier, better, and safer, so everyone can live life to the fullest,” added Chris.
