- Swedish National Day and Midsummer Lunch Celebration, 10 June 2023
< Back Swedish National Day and Midsummer Lunch Celebration, 10 June 2023 The long awaited Swedish National Day and Midsummer Lunch Celebration 2023 was a great success! On Saturday, 10 June, the Swedish National Day and Midsummer Lunch Celebration 2023 took place at Lancaster Bangkok. Together with Sweden Alumni Network Thailand, Svenskgruppen i Bangkok, SWEA Bangkok, and Thai-Nordic Association, we gathered over 70 people at the event for one of the most loved Swedish traditions. The doors opened at 11:00 and SweCham welcomed everyone for some mingle before the lunch would take place at 12:00. A great and diverse buffet was awaiting the guests with some of the most iconic typical Midsummer dishes including three types of marinated herrings, boiled small potatoes with butter and dill, smoked salmon and of course the meatballs just to name a fraction of what was offered. After enjoying the buffet, it was time for the popular SweCham quiz which challenged the participants with both Midsummer-related questions and general knowledge questions. The winners were awarded with Marabou chocolate which was highly appreciated. The highlight for many which was the final section of our Midsummer Lunch was our coveted raffle game. This year we were delighted to give away some fantastic prizes and we congratulate all the lucky winners. Once again, we would also like to thank all the raffle prize sponsors: Aleenta Phuket Aleenta Retreat Chiang Mai akyra Manor Hotel Chiang Mai BNH Hospital The Legend Chiang Rai Escape Room Thailand CoffeeWorks FOREO jOOBOO The Landmark Bangkok Mammas Kök Husqvarna Amrapur Tailors and Khun Peter Björk SweCham would like to thank everyone who participated in this event and your invaluable support! The meeting aimed to offer opportunities for these businesses to share their challenges while further expanding the network of the Thailand-Sweden business community. At the meeting, the Ambassador of Sweden to Thailand, H.E. Anna Hammargren, provided some key facts on the broad relationship between Sweden and Thailand. Around 100 Swedish companies currently operate in Thailand, some with a long history in the country. In addition, the Embassy is stepping up efforts to develop trade and investments aligned with a new Swedish Government strategy on foreign trade, strengthening Sweden's position as a partner for green and digital transition. On this occasion, the SweCham Team, presented by Dr. Pojanath Bhatanacharoen (Executive Director) and Khun Thittiya Sommana (Events and Marketing Officer), along with the Business Sweden Team, presented by Khun Kacper Pierzynowski (Country Manager) and Khun Patcharee Yodpratum (Consultant, Thailand incl. Myanmar, Cambodia & Lao PDR), participated in the meeting. Our goals were to introduce our organisations to all the participants and understand the barriers and concerns that distributors and importers may have. Moreover, Dr. Pojanath also shared SweCham's advocacy work, offering insights into how SweCham could support Swedish-related companies in Thailand. This support ranges from providing business opportunities through various networking activities to working closely with other trade associations and organisations, serving as a voice for our members' interests. Finally, it was our pleasure to be part of this meeting to understand the needs of Swedish companies in Thailand. This knowledge will be used to develop future projects and events that empower the growing Swedish business community. Previous Next
