Volvo Car Thailand has introduced prototype solar carport charging stations at a number of dealerships in the country for Volvo customers to use free of charge. < Back Volvo Unveils Solar Carport Charging Stations 27 Jan 2023 Volvo Car Thailand has introduced prototype solar carport charging stations at a number of dealerships in the country for Volvo customers to use free of charge. With the increase of electric vehicles in Thailand, Volvo wants to meet the future demands for energy by using renewable sources like solar power. Managing director Chris Wailes said โat the beginning of the year, Volvo made a commitment to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by more than 50% within three years, which includes the co-operation of our partners. We have installed prototype solar charging stations at all four Volvo dealerships, which can reduce electricity bills by up to 106,000 baht per year and reduce carbon emissions by over 11,500 kg per year in each dealership as well.โ Volvo has pledged to reduce their greenhouse gas emissions with more than 50% by 2026. They expect that electricity produced by renewable energy, like solar energy, will not only help the environment but also and bring down the cost of electricity. On 12 February 2024, SweCham attended aย one-dayย conference on โBusiness, Gender Diversity and the Path Ahead,โ hostedย by BJC/Big C Group.ย The event was opened by the Prime Minister of Thailand, H.E. Mr. Sretthaย Thavisin. Followed by a presentation from Professor Emeritus Mr. Vitit Muntarbhorn of the Faculty of Law, Chulalongkorn University.ย He spoke on the importance of Business and Gender diversity for transformative change, as well as being an excellent moderator of the panel discussions.ย < Back Embracing and prioritising gender diversity in the workplace โ because inclusivity is not just a goal, it's a commitment! 16 Feb 2024 On 12 February 2024, SweCham attended a one-day conference on โBusiness, Gender Diversity and the Path Ahead,โ hosted by BJC/Big C Group. The first panel discussion was with multiple ambassadors, H.E. Mrs. Astrid Emilie Helle, Ambassador of Norway, H.E. Mr.Jyri Jรคrviaho, Ambassador of Finland, H.E. Mr. Mark Gooding, Ambassador of the United Kingdom, H.E. Ms. Ping Kitnikone, Ambassador of Canada and Mrs. Anna Jakenberg Brinck , Deputy Head of Mission Sweden. The panel discussion highlighted what is done in each country, both the positive and what issues that the countries are facing. Khun Anna Jakenberg Brinck highlighted that it is important that we view gender diversity and equality as something we must work on everyday, to not slip behind. Mrs. Anna Hammargren, and the President of the Thai-Swedish Chamber of Commerce, Mr. Peter Bjรถrk. Together, we celebrated this significant milestone in Securitas Thailand's journey. SweCham executive director, Dr Pojanath Bhatanacharoen, along with the team joined the Executive Directors and Chambers Management Luncheon Meeting organised by the Joint Foreign Chambers of Commerce in Thailand (JFCCT). < Back Foreign Chambers of Commerce Continue our Cooperation Through the JFCCT 30 Jun 2023 On 27 June, our executive director, Dr Pojanath Bhatanacharoen, along with the team joined the Executive Directors and Chambers Management Luncheon Meeting organised by the Joint Foreign Chambers of Commerce in Thailand (JFCCT) at Anantara Siam Hotel. The aim of the meeting is to share updates on JFCCT Committees, future events, and initiatives to which foreign chambers of commerce in Thailand and chambersโ members could contribute and support further. At the meeting, JFCCT Chairwoman, Mrs Vibeke Lyssand Leirvรฅg, JFCCT Vice Chairs, Dr Supareak Charlie Chomchan and Mr Ravi Sehgal, together with Chair of Sustainable Development Committee, Mr Lars Svensson, Chairman of Tourism Committee, Mr Anthony Hoglund, and Executive Secretary, Ms Wanlapa Yamapai, shared their updates. The work scope of the JFCCT Tourism Committee, Sustainable Development Committee, Digital Economy/ICT Committee, SME Committee, and Education & Skills Committee were shared. Members of chambers are invited to actively participate in the committees. Chambers also have the opportunity to commit to knowledge transferring for teachers, work with the Office of SMEs Promotion (OSMEP), take part in sustainability events to showcase the expertise of chambersโ members and support the JFCCT in various prospects. Believing that we can drive business growth for the foreign business community by working together, many SweCham members are supporting the JFCCT in this essential work through active engagement in the working groups. Moreover, the meeting provided the JFCCT and chambers with a chance to coordinate the upcoming events this year, including the Directorsโ Night, Embassies and Chambers get-together, and EEC event organised by the JFCCT and Netherlands-Thai Chamber of Commerce. We are delighted to be informed about the events and we look forward to supporting these events.
