< Back Let’s Fika It Out Together Workshop, Tuesday 17 March 2026 Bangkok, 17 March 2026 – SweCham , together with Inspira , was pleased to organize an Afternoon of Meaningful Conversation and Fresh Perspectives workshop “Let’s Fika It Out Together” , centered on the discussion topic “Making Cross-Cultural and Cross-Generational Collaboration Work at Work!” . What happens when professionals come together not for a formal meeting, but for genuine connection? “Let’s Fika It Out Together” offered exactly that—an engaging and refreshing afternoon centered around the Swedish concept of Fika : taking time to slow down, share coffee, and create space for meaningful conversations. Bringing together a diverse group of professionals from various industries, the session created a welcoming environment where participants could step away from their daily routines and engage in open, thoughtful dialogue. What began as a simple gathering quickly evolved into an afternoon filled with insight, laughter, and authentic exchange. Set in a warm and inclusive atmosphere, the session encouraged participants to explore new perspectives and build connections across cultures and generations. Through guided discussions and interactive exercises, attendees had the opportunity to reflect, share experiences, and co-create ideas in a relaxed yet purposeful setting. < Back APAC SwedCham Webinar: CEO Talk: Micael Johansson, CEO of Saab Group, 8 November 2023 On 8 November, SwedCham in Singapore hosted a webinar with Micael Johansson, CEO of Saab Group, on the topic of national security, with a focus on the nature of defence manufacturing and strategies. Micael Johansson started by summarising SAAB’s key areas, along with its four major hubs outside of Sweden: the USA, the UK, Australia, and Germany. He explained that SAAB’s focus lies in aiding countries in rebuilding military supplies. The session transitioned to the main topic, where he discussed his views on current events and how SAAB is responding. SAAB is changing its regional supply chains. It is simultaneously building up its stockpiles, thus making SAAB more resilient to future possible security issues. The war in Ukraine has revolutionised modern warfare, with the use of traditional and civilian technologies. A connected battlefield is also something new, where both AI and the cloud are being used in real-time. This is something the SAAB CEO believes will be the future of warfare. SAAB is strategically expanding its presence in the APAC region, designating Australia as a key hub. Meanwhile, having reached market penetration in India, Thailand, and Singapore, where various products are sold in their respective countries. < Back APAC SwedCham Webinar: After the Storm: Sourcing Trends in China and Southeast Asia, 15 November 2023 On 15 November, SweCham and ARC Consulting hosted a webinar with Marcus Sohlberg, Business Development Director at ARC Consulting, on the topic Sourcing Trends in China and Southeast Asia and how they develop over time. Trade values are rising in first half of 2023, though being lower than 2021-2022. Global factors affecting trade include geopolitical tensions, economic weakness, trade restrictions, industrial output slowdown, inflation, and high interest rates. The top three Southeast Asian sourcing countries are: Vietnam, Thailand, Malaysia. Although China's reopened borders have a negative impact on the other sourcing countries, Thailand's automotive, agriculture, and food sourcing sectors are thriving, while for Malaysia there is increased sourcing in electronics and batteries for EVs. Currently, relocating sourcing from China has decreased, possibly due to prior relocations. However Southeast Asia sees a positive trend, with companies inclined to keep or relocate sourcing and manufacturing to the region. The top three risk factors companies see in China are: increasing costs, unstable supplier performance, and increased tariffs. Meanwhile, in Southeast Asia, the concerns include increasing costs, unstable supplier performance, and a lack of supply skills. The reasons for relocation include cost savings, risk mitigation, and improved logistics. Interestingly, supply chains currently face disruptions due to new ESG policies, but also the EU Carbon Border Tax, Carbon Peak and Neutrality, and EU Supply Chain Act. In reflection of this, an issue has emerged where many companies are assessing suppliers' carbon footprint data, meanwhile lacking proper data collection. In summary, there is a growing confidence in Southeast Asia and Europe for sourcing, but China remains the top choice. Our SweCham delegation of 40 members, including Swedish Ambassador H.E. Mrs. Anna Hammargren, Thai-Swedish Chamber of Commerce President Mr. Peter Bjork, Executive Director Ms. Anna Olsson-Moore, UNICEF Corporate Alliances Officer Mr. Amornchai Challcharoenwattana, board members, and representatives from premium and corporate member organizations, including EQHO Communications, Candela, Condato, Ericsson, Hitachi Energy, Saab, SPICA, and Toyota Material Handling Warehouse Solutions Thailand, attended this exclusive event to interact with Thailand's foremost leaders in both the public and private sectors. The event, under the theme of "Sustainable Thailand: Advancing with Reforms,” underscored pivotal policies shaping Thailand's economic trajectory. In her keynote address, H.E. Ms. Paetongtarn Shinawatra, Prime Minister of Thailand, articulated the government's vision for propelling Thailand's economy forward through sustainable economic development. She stressed the necessity of collaboration between the government and the private sector to attain long-term growth, ensuring that Thailand's economic advancement is sustainable, inclusive, and beneficial for all citizens. This cherished gathering brought together guests to celebrate Swedish National Day and the joyful spirit of Midsummer, one of Sweden's most beloved traditions. The event offered a wonderful opportunity for the community to reconnect, strengthen relationships, and enjoy an afternoon filled with Swedish culture, traditions, and hospitality. The festivities began with a lively flower crown-binding activity , where guests embraced the spirit of the Swedish summer by creating beautiful floral crowns. The celebration continued with a traditional Swedish Midsummer luncheon buffet featuring classic seasonal favourites, allowing guests to experience the flavours of Swedish cuisine. One of the highlights of the afternoon was the traditional dance around the maypole, accompanied by classic Swedish summer songs. Guests enthusiastically joined in this treasured Midsummer tradition, creating a vibrant and festive atmosphere filled with laughter and joyful memories.
