The rapid growth of electric vehicle sales takes the company a step closer to realising its goal of being a fully electric car company in Thailand in 2025. Despite the production restraints caused by component shortages, the demand for Volvo Cars in Thailand remained robust, with sales of fully electric models, including the C40 Recharge Pure Electric and the XC40 Recharge Pure Electric, growing by 190 percent during the year of 2022, accounting for over one-third of total vehicle sales. Volvo Cars’ Recharge line-up also reported a sales increase of 24 percent, amounting to 64.8 percent of the company’s total sales volume. To commemorate its 50th year of operation in Thailand this year, the company also announced an ambitious plan to sell only fully electric cars in Thailand in 2025, five years ahead of the company’s global target. “This year marks a special occasion as Volvo Car introduced our first model to Thailand 50 years ago with a promise of safe driving. As we embark on our next 50 years, we extend our promise of safe driving to include protecting the environment and the world we live in. We are delighted that drivers in Thailand are so enthusiastic about electric-powered vehicles, and we are confident that our bold ambition to sell only full electric cars in 2025 will be successful,” said Chris Wailes, Managing Director of Volvo Car (Thailand) Limited . Reinforcing Volvo’s commitment to using clean energy for a sustainable future, four dealerships were chosen to house Solar Carport charging station installations, helping to lower electricity bills and reduce carbon emissions. Volvo Car Thailand also built closer connections with consumers as part of the “Live Life Better with Volvo” campaign, which encourages people to become more conscious of the environment and communicate the importance of living life sustainability. Adventurous outdoor activities hosted by Volvo included cycling and trail running, giving Thais an opportunity to explore their thrill-seeking side and get in touch with nature.
