    < Back SweCham Business Networking With Jönköping University, 19 January 2023 On the evening of Thursday, 19 January, the Thai-Swedish Chamber of Commerce had the pleasure of hosting a Business Networking event in partnership with Jönköping University at the Rembrandt Hotel & Suites. The event provided a valuable opportunity for members, partners and friends of the chamber to come together, socialise and establish connections with potential business partners. The highlight of the evening was a special presentation by Dr. Roy Andersson of Jönköping University and Dr. Kent Salomonsson of Jönköping University and University of Skövde, who discussed the topic of ‘Manufacturing in Thailand Today – Meeting Future Demands’. The insights shared during the presentation were both informative and thought-provoking, and attendees left with a deeper understanding of the subject matter. In addition to the presentation, attendees were treated to a selection of flavourful finger foods and free-flowing drinks, creating a relaxed and enjoyable atmosphere for networking and socialising. The SweCham would like to extend our gratitude to the Rembrandt Hotel & Suites for their warm hospitality and excellent service.     On Tuesday, 30 April, Business Sweden and Team Sweden, including the Embassy of Sweden and Thai-Swedish Chamber of Commerce (SweCham), hosted the launch of 'Pioneer the Possible Thailand' at Samyan Mitrtown.  The programme focuses on three themes, green production, green mobility, and energy transition and is supported by Ericsson, Camfil, Electrolux Professional, Reflex, Hitachi Energy, Midsummer, Siemens Energy, and Volvo Cars Thailand.  < Back Pioneer the Possible Thailand, Memorandum of Understanding Signed! 3 May 2024 On Tuesday, 30 April, Business Sweden and Team Sweden, including the Embassy of Sweden and Thai-Swedish Chamber of Commerce (SweCham), hosted the launch of 'Pioneer the Possible Thailand' at Samyan Mitrtown. The programme focuses on three themes, green production, green mobility, and energy transition and is supported by Ericsson, Camfil, Electrolux Professional, Reflex, Hitachi Energy, Midsummer, Siemens Energy, and Volvo Cars Thailand. The event began with welcoming remarks by Ambassador H.E. Mrs. Anna Hammargren and Trade Commissioner Mr. Kacper Pierzynowski. This was followed by a special address by the Director-General of the Department of Alternative Energy Development and Efficiency, Mr. Wattanapong Kurovat, and a keynote address by the Chief of the Project Engineering Department at EGAT, Mr. Pongsak Mancharoen. Mr. Pongsak Mancharoen discussed Thailand's Carbon Neutrality Policy aiming for Net Zero Emissions by 2065 and the impact of the EU's Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM) on Thailand. A panel discussion on Thailand and Sweden’s joint path to a carbon-neutral society was moderated by Mr. Mattias Goldmann of 2030-sekretariatet. Panellists included Dr. Narin Phoawanich, Assistant Governor Fuel Managment, EGAT, Siamnat Panassorn, Electric Vehicle Association of Thailand (EVAT) Committee and CEO of Sun-up Recycling Co Ltd, Dr. Savanit Boonyasuwat, the Federation of Thai Industry (FTI), Mr. Kongkiat Teekamongkol, Managing Director of Camfil (Thailand) Co., Ltd., Mr. Anders Rian, President of Ericsson (Thailand) Co., Ltd., and Mr. Polawat Phrirojchaikul, Managing Director, Reflex Packaging (Thailand) part of Nefab Group. The discussion highlighted various approaches to sustainability and reiterated that one of the key solutions to change is improving efficiency and changing to clean energy! Sweden and Thailand are joining forces to accelerate the journey towards a sustainable future. A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between Business Sweden and the Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand (EGAT), laying the groundwork for cooperation in sustainability. This MoU will enable Sweden and Thailand to collaborate on studying biomass and hydrogen as part of their commitment to reducing carbon emissions. Previous Next

Tungasmita from the Department of Chemistry and Dr Sukkaneste Tungasmita (Sweden alumnus, Linköping University) from the Department of Physics at the Faculty of Science at Chulalongkorn University who visited SweCham on Thursday, 5 July. The meeting focused on the roles of the Swedish companies and the academia in promoting a sustainable future. The discussions highlighted the importance of collaboration between the academia and the chemical industry for the future of sustainability within the electronics industry. In an effort to speed up the transition to a sustainable future, the Faculty of Sciences at Chulalongkorn University is organising the Eurasia Conference on Chemical Sciences 2023 (EuAsC2) event in December. This year’s event revolves around the theme of ‘Frontiers in Chemical Sciences for Sustainability,’ encompassing crucial discussion points such as green processes, Carbon Capture, Renewable energy, and Chemical and biosensors. During the meeting, we discussed the possibilities for SweCham and the industries to engage with the EuAsC2 event as well as fostering collaboration between the private sector and the academia. Recognising the crucial role sustainability plays, we would like to emphasise the importance of a triple bottom line approach and the interconnectedness of economic, environmental, and social factors in achieving sustainable success.     During these boiling days, let’s beware of heat exhaustion and heat stroke. < Back BNH hospital: Emergency Service 24 Apr 2023 Thailand is currently in the hottest season of the year. The Thai Meteorological Department (TMD) advised citizens to beware of the heat, especially vulnerable groups, as the weather is expected to remain hot and sunny until early May. During these boiling days, let’s beware of heat exhaustion and heat stroke. Heat Exhaustion is when the body is overheating but does not need emergency medical treatment if the symptoms can be released or cool down after 30-minute while Heat Stroke requires emergency medical help. If left untreated, heat stroke can harm multiple organs instantly. In the worst case, it can lead to long-term disability or death. The symptoms can happen in both adults and children even though children may become more sensitive. Risk factors include age, people with chronic disease(s) and sudden exposure to hot weather. Signs of heat exhaustion and heat stroke include: Cool, moist skin with goose bumps when in the heat Heavy sweating Faintness Dizziness Fatigue Weak, rapid pulse Low blood pressure upon standing Muscle cramps Nausea Headache The symptoms can be released by cooling down the heat, such as loosing patient’s clothing, rest in a cool place and drink cool fluids.
