SUT Places 2nd in the Northeast Region and Ranks 12th in Thailand in Webometrics World University Rankings < Back SUT in the Latest Webometrics Ranking of World Universities 28 Feb 2023 On 1 February 2023, the rector of Suranaree University of Technology (SUT), Associate Professor Dr. Anan Tongraar, announced the release of the round 1, January 2023 of the Webometrics Ranking of World Universities, which is a comprehensive ranking system that evaluates universities around the world based on two primary factors: the volume of web content and the visibility and impact of these web publications, as determined by the number of external inlinks they receive. The round 1, January 2023 edition used three primary indicators for ranking universities, which include visibility, transparency or openness, and excellence or scholar, accounting for 50%, 10%, and 40%, respectively. The results of this assessment have placed Suranaree University of Technology (SUT) in an impressive position as the 2nd ranked institution in the Northeast region, 4th in the Thai University of Technology category, 12th in Thailand, and 1,347th in the world. This is a remarkable achievement that demonstrates SUT’s commitment to excellence and its pursuit of academic and research excellence on a global scale. In addition, we held a productive meeting to discuss potential collaborations for a sustainability event this year. The meeting provided a valuable opportunity for us to share our ongoing sustainability projects and explore potential avenues for collaboration. Notably, TCEB has been dedicated to promoting sustainable practices within the MICE industry. They plan to host events showcasing initiatives undertaken by private organisations, aiming to raise awareness and encourage the adoption of sustainable event practices among their staff and representatives from other public organisations in Thailand. Moreover, Sasin School of Management, renowned for their impactful graduates and dedication to sustainable business practices, emerged as a perfect partner for this project. Their expertise and commitment to sustainability align perfectly with TCEB's goal to advance their Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) agenda within the MICE industry. The event was distinguished by the presence of ambassadors from each Nordic nation, each introducing a notable film from their country, highlighting the diverse and profound storytelling traditions of the Nordic region. These introductions offered the audience a fascinating insight into the distinct narrative styles and film-making approaches characteristic of each country, painting a vivid picture of the Nordic cinematic landscape. The movies of the festival were: 🎥Amundsen, Norway 🇳🇴 🎥Riders of Justice, Denmark 🇩🇰 🎥Super Furball Saves the Future, Finland 🇫🇮 🎥Triangle of Sadness, Sweden 🇸🇪 The first movie of the festival was the Swedish movie ‘Triangle of Sadness’ by Ruben Östlund. During these boiling days, let’s beware of heat exhaustion and heat stroke. < Back BNH hospital: Emergency Service 24 Apr 2023 Thailand is currently in the hottest season of the year. The Thai Meteorological Department (TMD) advised citizens to beware of the heat, especially vulnerable groups, as the weather is expected to remain hot and sunny until early May. During these boiling days, let’s beware of heat exhaustion and heat stroke. Heat Exhaustion is when the body is overheating but does not need emergency medical treatment if the symptoms can be released or cool down after 30-minute while Heat Stroke requires emergency medical help. If left untreated, heat stroke can harm multiple organs instantly. In the worst case, it can lead to long-term disability or death. The symptoms can happen in both adults and children even though children may become more sensitive. Risk factors include age, people with chronic disease(s) and sudden exposure to hot weather. Signs of heat exhaustion and heat stroke include: Cool, moist skin with goose bumps when in the heat Heavy sweating Faintness Dizziness Fatigue Weak, rapid pulse Low blood pressure upon standing Muscle cramps Nausea Headache The symptoms can be released by cooling down the heat, such as loosing patient’s clothing, rest in a cool place and drink cool fluids. The European University Initiative is an initiative that aims to strengthen strategic partnerships between higher educational institutions in the European Union. With Jönköping University’s participation in this EU Initiative, new opportunities for international cooperation are expected to emerge. Agneta Marell, President of JU, says that participating in this initiative will open many doors for Jönköping University. The European University Initiative (EUI) is a European Union programme focused on the cross-border activities of the university systems in the EU.
