The seminar, co-hosted by the National Anti-Corruption Commission (NACC) and the Joint Foreign Chambers of Commerce in Thailand (JFCCT) focused on strengthening cooperation between the public and private sectors in the fight against corruption.  < Back Fostering Transparency with the NACC and JFCCT 23 Jun 2025 The seminar, co-hosted by the National Anti-Corruption Commission (NACC) and the Joint Foreign Chambers of Commerce in Thailand (JFCCT) on 23 June 2025, at the Swissôtel Bangkok, focused on strengthening cooperation between the public and private sectors in the fight against corruption. The purpose of the event was to promote dialogue between the NACC and foreign private businesses operating in Thailand, with the aim of fostering greater transparency and accountability. It served as a platform to openly address ongoing corruption issues—such as the solicitation and acceptance of bribes by government officials—and to gather practical recommendations and strategies for improvement. These insights are intended to support the NACC in its role as Thailand’s leading anti-corruption agency. The seminar featured an open and informative panel discussion on the NACC’s current initiatives and the important work being done to enhance integrity within public sector operations. A strong emphasis was placed on how the private sector can actively contribute to these efforts, highlighting the value of ongoing public-private collaboration. Topics discussed included: Key NACC anti-corruption initiatives and policy frameworks Challenges faced by foreign businesses in dealing with corruption The private sector’s role in promoting integrity and transparency Case examples of unethical practices and solicitation Recommendations for improving enforcement, reporting mechanisms, and cooperation The event underscored a shared commitment to good governance and the collective responsibility of both sectors in creating a more transparent and accountable business environment in Thailand. On 25 April, the Embassy of Sweden in Bangkok hosted a meeting with distributors and importers of Swedish products, together with Team Sweden representatives from Business Sweden and SweCham.  < Back Expanding our Network: Fika with Distributors and Importers of Swedish Products in Thailand 13 May 2024 On 25 April, the Embassy of Sweden in Bangkok hosted a meeting with distributors and importers of Swedish products, together with Team Sweden representatives from Business Sweden and SweCham. The meeting aimed to offer opportunities for these businesses to share their challenges while further expanding the network of the Thailand-Sweden business community. At the meeting, the Ambassador of Sweden to Thailand, H.E. Anna Hammargren, provided some key facts on the broad relationship between Sweden and Thailand. Around 100 Swedish companies currently operate in Thailand, some with a long history in the country. In addition, the Embassy is stepping up efforts to develop trade and investments aligned with a new Swedish Government strategy on foreign trade, strengthening Sweden's position as a partner for green and digital transition. On this occasion, the SweCham Team, presented by Dr. Pojanath Bhatanacharoen (Executive Director) and Khun Thittiya Sommana (Events and Marketing Officer), along with the Business Sweden Team, presented by Khun Kacper Pierzynowski (Country Manager) and Khun Patcharee Yodpratum (Consultant, Thailand incl. Myanmar, Cambodia & Lao PDR), participated in the meeting. Our goals were to introduce our organisations to all the participants and understand the barriers and concerns that distributors and importers may have. Moreover, Dr. Pojanath also shared SweCham's advocacy work, offering insights into how SweCham could support Swedish-related companies in Thailand. This support ranges from providing business opportunities through various networking activities to working closely with other trade associations and organisations, serving as a voice for our members' interests. Finally, it was our pleasure to be part of this meeting to understand the needs of Swedish companies in Thailand. The Thai-Swedish Chamber of Commerce celebrated its 30th anniversary with a grand gala dinner at Marriott Hotel, the Surawongse in Bangkok. < Back Throwback to the Nobel-Inspired Gala: the Thai-Swedish Chamber of Commerce 30th Anniversary 29 Aug 2024 Throwback to our 30th Anniversary, the Thai-Swedish Chamber of Commerce marked a decade of exceptional partnership with a grand gala dinner in Bangkok. This milestone event gathered our esteemed members, friends, and partners from both Thailand and Sweden to celebrate a journey of collaboration and growth. The evening commenced with President, Anders Lundquist, who emphasised the chamber's remarkable growth and the invaluable support it has received from both Thai and international members. He shared a delightful anecdote from the chamber's inauguration, attended by His Majesty King Carl XVI Gustaf of Sweden and Queen Silvia at the former Siam Intercontinental Hotel. During his speech, the King humorously remarked that he found their logo ‘not sexy enough.’ Years later, during a meeting in a church garden in Thailand, Khun Anders had the chance to remind the King of this comment, to which the King responded with surprise, asking, ‘Did I really say that?’ In addition, the president also highlighted that the evening's theme was inspired by the Nobel Gala Dinner. He pointed out the similarities in table arrangements to the Nobel banquet held in 1989, coinciding with the awarding of the Nobel prizes in Sweden. This homage to Alfred Nobel, the esteemed founder of the prizes, added a layer of significance to the celebration. Moreover, the gala also recognised Ingvar Krook, a scholarship sponsor for young students associated with the SweCham. Mr Krook shared insights as the former executive director of the Swedish Foreign Trade Association and the Swedish Youth Abroad Foundation, where he played a vital role in providing scholarships for Swedish students. He expressed his satisfaction with the chamber's initiatives and its commitment to promoting Swedish interests abroad. Guests were treated to a delectable menu inspired by the 1989 Nobel banquet, featuring a starter of salmon, a choice of beef or fish for the main course, and a modern interpretation of mango sticky rice for dessert. The evening concluded with a lucky draw, offering impressive prizes. Notably, one guest, Anders Frummerin, won a prize from Husqvarna for the third consecutive time! Given its auspicious start, the Thai-Swedish Chamber of Commerce has been instrumental in fostering economic cooperation and cultural exchange between Thailand and Sweden. On Tuesday, our preparations were supported by our President, Mr. Peter Björk, and our Vice President (Communications), Mr. Tomas Julin, at an exclusive gala dinner food tasting session. Representing the SweCham team were Dr. Pojanath Bhatanacharoen, Executive Director, and Khun Anantaya Kwanmuang, Administrative Officer. We received a warm welcome from Khun Jaruone Kheiwmanee, Director of Events, Khun Angkana Tangkrachang, Area Director of Sales and Marketing, and Chef Niklas Elfstrand who looks after the Banquets at the Landmark Bangkok Hotel . Chef Niklas, hailing from Sweden, brought a delightful fusion of Swedish and international flavours. We started with classic Skagen Toast and Salmon Roe, a fusion Crab Skagen with Tobiko and Asparagus, and the pièce de résistance: Variation of Skagen with smoked salmon on kavring baked from Chef Niklas’s grandmother’s special recipe—an exquisite showcase of Swedish heritage and creativity. The main course options included: Slow Cooked Australian Sirloin, Creamy Truffle Mash, Grilled Baby Cos Sesame Panko—deliciously tender and perfectly cooked. Pan-fried Red Grouper, Mussel Velouté, Creamy Mash, Pickled Zucchini, Tarragon—excellent texture and beautifully presented. Cauliflower Truffle Steak, Wilted Rocket, Truffle Sauce—tasty and filling for our vegetarian guests. For dessert, we indulged in the delicious and authentic Småländsk Ostkaka with Raspberry Crush and Brandy Cream. . The offerings were excellent, with authentic Swedish flair.
